An isolated house in deserted area is too remote for a servant, who leaves a note, quietly exits the back door, and puts the key under the mat. Alone in the house is a mother and her infant. A tramp watches the servant leave, then begins to skulk. The woman sees him outside as he discovers the latchkey. She phones her husband, who's working in town, and he jumps into a car idli...

极佳，洛伊斯韦伯自导自演，早期的女性导演。其中三处非常有意思，一是从楼上看楼下，正好与闯入者对视，这里用了主观镜头，具有创造性；二是丈夫、妻子、闯入者构成的三角式分屏，两者对话，其中一人割断电话线，同步进行；三是丈夫开车，后面警察追上来是通过后视镜里表达出来的。配乐营造了紧迫感，即使表演过于夸张也无损。
